Eclipses only happen when the Sun and Moon meet the lunar nodes. When the nodes shift, so does the eclipse family. With the July 26, 2026 axis change, we're entering a new set of Aquarius/Leo eclipses that will punctuate the entire cycle.

Eclipses = Nodal Accelerators
Eclipses only happen when the Sun and Moon meet the lunar nodes. When the nodes shift, so does the eclipse family. With the July 26, 2026 axis change, we're entering a new set of Aquarius/Leo eclipses that will punctuate the entire cycle.

The 2026–2028 Aquarius/Leo Eclipse Set
| Date | Type | Sign & Degree | What it accelerates | |------|------|---------------|---------------------| | August 12, 2026 | Total Solar Eclipse | Leo ~20° | Massive South-Node release. Whatever you've been over-performing gets rewritten. | | August 28, 2026 | Partial Lunar Eclipse | Pisces ~5° | Tail-end of the previous axis — emotional / spiritual closure. | | February 17, 2027 | Annular Solar Eclipse | Aquarius ~28° | First real North-Node breakthrough — future direction gets loud. | | August 2, 2027 | Total Solar Eclipse | Leo ~9° | Peak South-Node release, largest visibility corridor of the decade in some regions. | | August 16, 2027 | Partial Lunar Eclipse | Aquarius ~23° | North-Node integration — a community or vision element lands. | | January 26, 2028 | Annular Solar Eclipse | Aquarius ~5° | Cycle-closing eclipse — measures what you built. |

Visibility Corridors
Eclipse visibility matters both physically (are you in the path?) and astrologically (eclipses often "activate" the regions they cross).
- August 12, 2026 — Total Solar in Leo: path of totality crosses Greenland, Iceland, and northern Spain. Partial visibility across most of Europe, western Russia, and northeastern North America.
- August 28, 2026 — Partial Lunar in Pisces: visible across the Americas, Europe, Africa, and western Asia during the evening/night hours.
- February 17, 2027 — Annular Solar in Aquarius: path of annularity crosses the southern Atlantic, southern Africa, and Antarctica. Partial visibility across South America and southern Africa.
- August 2, 2027 — Total Solar in Leo: exceptionally long path of totality (over 6 minutes at maximum) crossing Spain, North Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, and Somalia. One of the longest total solar eclipses of the century.
- August 16, 2027 — Partial Lunar in Aquarius: visible from the Americas, Europe, Africa, and western Asia.
- January 26, 2028 — Annular Solar in Aquarius: path of annularity crosses the Amazon basin, the Atlantic, Spain, and Portugal.
If an eclipse is visible from your city, its degree tends to hit harder locally. Cities in the direct path often show up as significant sites in that eclipse's 6–24 month storyline.

How to Check If an Eclipse Aspects Your Chart
An eclipse "aspects" your chart when its degree makes a geometric relationship to one of your natal placements. Rules of thumb:
- Orb: Use a 3° orb for eclipses. Tighter orbs (within 1°) are the ones you'll actually feel.
- Conjunction (0°): eclipse degree same as your natal placement — most direct hit.
- Opposition (180°): eclipse in the sign opposite your natal placement — often plays out through relationships.
- Square (90°): eclipse in a sign 3 signs away from yours — tension, forced action.
- Trine (120°): eclipse in a sign 4 signs away — flow, opportunity (less dramatic but still counts).
Priority order for what to check: angles (ASC, DSC, MC, IC) → luminaries (Sun, Moon) → personal planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars) → outer planets.
Look up your placements with the birth chart calculator and note anything within 3° of the six eclipse degrees above.

The Saros Series Angle
Every eclipse belongs to a Saros series — a family of eclipses that recur every ~18 years and gradually evolve over ~12–15 centuries. Astrologers read the whole family as one karmic thread.
- August 12, 2026 (Solar in Leo) — Saros 126, a series associated with community realignment and unexpected news.
- February 17, 2027 (Annular in Aquarius) — Saros 140, a series tied to endings that reveal what needed to end.
- August 2, 2027 (Total Solar in Leo) — Saros 136, one of the most famous families in astrology (it's the same family as the 1999 total solar eclipse in Leo that anchored the millennium shift).
You don't need to be a specialist in Saros to work with this — but knowing that August 2, 2027 belongs to the same lineage as August 11, 1999 tells you the historical resonance is deep. If you're old enough to remember what August 1999 felt like personally or globally, expect a thematic echo — not the same events, but the same rhyme.

Historical Aquarius/Leo Eclipse Cycles
Looking back at the last two Aquarius/Leo eclipse eras clarifies what to expect.
2008–2009 (previous NN Aquarius / SN Leo cycle):
- Global financial crisis peaked (institutional Leo — the "too big to fail" celebrities of banking — collapsed).
- Obama election in the US (mass-movement Aquarian energy, small-donor networks, Yes We Can as a collective identity).
- Bitcoin whitepaper published (Oct 2008 — the archetypal decentralized-network Aquarian breakthrough).
1990–1991:
- Berlin Wall consequences played out across Eastern Europe (dissolution of Leo-monarchic power structures).
- World Wide Web made public by CERN (March 1991 — the ultimate Aquarian invention).
- USSR dissolved (Dec 1991).
Pattern: Leo-coded power structures come under pressure; Aquarian-coded networks and technologies break through. Expect the 2026–2028 cycle to follow the same pattern with 2026 texture — AI as public utility, decentralized finance maturing, celebrity/influencer economy contracting, institutional trust rebuilding around collective infrastructure.

How to Read an Eclipse
- Solar eclipses are new beginnings on a nodal timeline. Something starts, often in a way that clears the runway by ending something else.
- Lunar eclipses are culminations. Something you've been building crests, or something you've been avoiding surfaces.
- South-Node (Leo) eclipses usually feel like release, exposure, or the end of a performance.
- North-Node (Aquarius) eclipses usually feel like being pulled forward, sometimes by external forces you didn't ask for.
The 72 hours around an eclipse are usually the most volatile. Don't sign contracts, don't send the risky email, don't quit the job on the eclipse day itself unless the decision is already fully made. The directional signal is usually clearest 2–4 weeks after, once the initial noise clears.

FAQ
Do eclipses cause bad things to happen? No. Eclipses accelerate what was already in motion. A stable situation stays stable through an eclipse. An unstable situation resolves faster.
How long do eclipse effects last? The window is typically 6 months before to 6 months after the exact date, with the strongest activation in the 30 days around it. Some effects echo across the full 18-month nodal cycle.
Should I do rituals on the eclipse day? Yes for reflection and journaling. No for anything binding (contracts, tattoos, major purchases, decisions you can't reverse). The energy is too fluid.
What if an eclipse hits my birthday? That's called a "solar return eclipse" and is one of the most personally significant transits possible. Read your dedicated sign horoscope and expect the next 12 months to be a major chapter.
Is the total eclipse in August 2027 the same as the 1999 one? Not the same eclipse, but the same Saros family (136). Thematically related, not literally repeating. If August 1999 was a personal turning point, August 2027 likely echoes the theme.
What's the "shadow period" before an eclipse? The 30 days before an eclipse are often when the theme quietly surfaces. If a topic keeps returning in July 2026, that's the August 12 eclipse announcing itself early.

Personalize It
Look up the degree of each eclipse and compare with your natal chart. Any personal planet within 3° orb of an eclipse degree will get the accelerator pedal pressed. Use the birth chart calculator to check.
